Adib Masumian from our elearning group got Kelly Rossi, project manager extraordinaire, to sit down for an interview on her job. In this segment, Kelly gives us some advice on how to manage projects more effectively.
This segment is the seventh in a series of interviews that we conducted with Kelly. Stay tuned for more!
Q: Any advice for managing projects more effectively?
Kelly Rossi: I think everyone’s a project manager. I think if you’re in a household, you’re a project manager. I think if you’ve ever done a home improvement project at home, you’re a project manager ’cause when I start painting a living room I get off track and I wanna buy living room furniture, when really the scope of my project is just painting the living room. So if you’ve ever managed anything like that at home, you’re a project manager. And I think, again, just defining what things are and what things aren’t and staying focused, I have to do that for myself. And I think the number one piece of advice is to scope it, get everyone on the same page, and then just keep bringing everyone back to that focus point is the best advice. And everyone is a project manager. A lot of people go, “Oh, I’m not a project manager.” Well, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it, you sure can.
